Grid Interconnection

Entry friction is undermining our electricity markets. We develop a price-first approach that eliminates the iterative processes that are constraining the market.

Price-first

RTOs use historical data and simulations to estimate the medium-term cost of grid upgrades ($/kW) required to support new generation.

Interconnection prices are assigned to each point of interconnection and type of generation.

Developers pay the interconnection price instead of waiting for costs to be allocated through a cluster study.

More capacity is connected faster because restudy is eliminated and developer risk is reduced.

Price-first clusters

RTO posts definitive "interconnection price" formula; then developers submit to cluster with full commitment to build; then RTO cluster study identifies upgrades
